Joe Rogan has once again had to defend himself after a video of him using the n-word had resurfaced online.
Joe Rogan Apologises After A ‘Regretful And Shameful’ Video Of Him Using The N-Word Emerges Online
This is the latest controversy that has plagued the podcast host ever since musician Neil Young demanded that Spotify remove his music on the grounds that the platform was airing Rogan’s podcast that was accused of spreading misinformation surrounding Covid-19.
And things have not been made any easier, as other prior videos of Joe have begun to surface online, which also included a video of him mocking Meghan Markle.
But this time around, Joe has potentially opened up a bigger can of words. Musician India Arie decided to share a compilation video of Joe using the n-word, which has now forced Rogan to respond.
In an official statement, Joe held his hands up and apologised. He said: “I’m making this video to talk about the most regretful and shameful thing that I’ve ever had to talk about publicly.
“There’s a video that’s out, that’s a compilation of me saying the N-word.” Despite that, Joe sought to justify his conduct on the following grounds.
First of all, he stressed that the video had been taken out of context. Therefore, there was no way of fully understanding the circumstances in which he had used that word.
Secondly, in any event, Joe claimed that this had happened around a decade ago which highlights the problem with cancel culture where any statement made in the past could be used to destroy a career in the present.
And yet, he still understood that perhaps he had made a mistake. He added: “Now I know that to most people there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that.”
There are serious concerns over how long Joe can continue to defend himself, in light of the increasing number of damaging reports that are occurring on a daily basis.
After all, surely something has to give. We will have to see how this will all play out going forward. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
