A TikTok video went viral after a nurse claimed that he had been asked by his hospital to come into work, despite the fact that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
TikTok Video Goes Viral As Nurse Is Called Into Work Despite Testing Positive For Covid-19-‘See You In The ICU’
Such a statement is an alarming one, especially since it demonstrated a contradiction in policy. People cannot be expected to self-isolate and lose their own livelihood, when the medical people in charge of them are doing the opposite.
Not only that, but it would go against the mainstream science that after testing positive, there should be a period of isolation in order to minimize spreading anything to other people.
As such, this was the last thing that people would expect to happen in a hospital that is naturally full of patients. In the video here, the user is holding a mobile phone while he is pretending to talk to his manager.
The video was captioned by the following comments: “Told my manager I’m positive for Covid. She replied: That’s fine. Come into work. We will give you patients who are also positive.”
The video instantly went viral and a lot of people had something to say on the matter. And by the looks of it, this was something that was very common.
In addition, things were not being helped by the changes in the recent CDC guidelines where quarantine rules have been changed from 10 days to 5 days following a positive test.
One person wrote: “Literally just tested positive yesterday and got told today they’ll see me Friday. What a time to work in healthcare.”
Although this does have the benefit of ensuring that people can continue to work and not lose out on a paycheck, the very fact of the matter is that it is a question of health vs the economy.
And at a time where both of these are being subjected to huge challenges, there is an argument that any course of action was bound to have some criticism. That is why the TikToker simply wished all those struggling with this issue all the best.
He added: “See you guys in the iCU or whatever or if you don’t make it that far see u in heaven. Make sure y’all bring your water, box of tissue, and probably your last will and testament cause we dyin out here.”
