TikTok User Slammed For Complaining About Customer Service In Light Of The Pandemic

A TikTok user has been heavily criticised after she decided to post a voicemail sent to her by the manager of ‘Dunkin Doughnuts’ showing he had apologised for making her wait in line.

The user, in question, Melanie @melaniespamss shared the voicemail from the manager which expressed his apologies because Melanie had decided to walk out of the shop as the line was too long.

In the video, which has now been removed, the manager is alleged to have stated the following: “I’d like to invite you back to remake your food. I’d love to take care of it for you and make your food over.”

Clearly, Melanie was not best pleased because she had to leave the store. While this may not have seemed like a big deal, the response on social media was anything but that.

In fact, the video went viral with over 200,000 views and counting. The primary reason why people had gotten so worked up was due to the fact that they felt the TikTok user was being selfish.

Given that the workers were operating during a pandemic, people felt that sympathy should have been expressed especially since staff numbers may not have been what they usually were, as well as the clear Covid regulations that they had to abide by.

One person wrote: “How you gonna complain about the line being too long. Be happy they’re still open to serve you donuts.” In her defence, however, Melanie admitted that she was not trying to complain about the service.

The reason why she decided to cancel the order was much more simple. She had other priorities to consider, which ultimately meant that the doughnuts were not as important as she initially thought.

Her following comment confirmed as much: “I tried to cancel my mobile order [because] when I got there the line was too long for me to wait in. I wasn’t trying to be late to work so I left.”

It is safe to say that Melanie should have considered what she was posting prior to doing it. In this way, she could have avoided the criticism that ultimately followed.
