Director Joss Whedon has responded to the claims being directed towards him which suggest that he was engaged in inappropriate behavior.
Director Joss Whedon Slams Gal Gadot And Ray Fisher Following Claims He Had Inappropriate Behaviour On Set-‘We’re Talking About A Bad Actor In Both Senses’
These claims emerged from the following actors Gal Gadot and Ray Fisher on the set of the ‘Justice League’ film. The former claimed that Joss had ‘threatened’ to end her career, meanwhile, the latter stated that he had seen ‘abusive’ behavior.
Although Joss denied doing anything of the sort, the very fact of the matter is that this scandal has not left his reputation in a good light.
Therefore, in order to win back some credibility, he is looking to set the record straight by demonstrating that he was innocent. During an interview with New York magazine, Joss spoke on how he was simply unhappy with the acting.
He said: “We’re talking about a malevolent force. We’re talking about a bad actor in both senses.” Much in the same way, Joss rejected the claims that he had threatened Gal with regards to her career.
So much so that he implied there was a serious case of miscommunication by virtue of the fact that Gal may not have understood what he was trying to get across because of a language barrier.
While that is hard to believe because Gal has been a successful Hollywood actress in many English movies, Joss continued to stand by that statement.
In a prior interview, Joss remarked: “English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech.”
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people felt that it was too early to comment on this by virtue of the fact that an investigation needed to find something concrete.
Meanwhile, others felt that this was part of the big problem with Hollywood as actors are often taken advantage of with no outlet to express their grievances.
One person on Twitter wrote: “Joss Whedon is really trying to dismiss some of the most respected actors in Hollywood instead of apologizing or accepting fault.”
It is safe to say that Joss will not be on speaking terms with Gal and Ray anytime soon. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
