‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers find that Rick Forrester has been a staple on the CBC sudser for 3 decades, yet it has been three years since he has been seen on screens. Though several actors have stepped into the shoes of the spawn of Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Eric Forrester (John McCook), it is Jacob Young who has portrayed the VP of Forrester Creations the longest and most recently with stints from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2011-2018.
However, Young has now dashed fans’ hopes that a third stint will be in the actor’s future as he explains why he will not return to the show…and why he believes Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) shouldn’t either.
Young first explained that he thoroughly enjoyed being on the show twice, saying “It was a good time, working with the actors that I got to work with”. However, he also believes “there’s just not enough work to go around.”

The Bold and the Beautiful is the only daytime soap to have a thirty minute format and due to that, Young says there just isn’t the time to spread the wealth amongst the entire ensemble cast.
“They hyper-focus on a couple of storylines at a time and that just doesn’t work for me. I wanted consistency,” Young professed, explaining how the writing often has a character “off the canvas for a month, and then they show up one day a month. It’s not good for the character and it’s not good for the audience, in my opinion.”
Young, who has gone on to take bit-roles in a string of primetime shows like The Walking Dead and High School Musical: The Musical – The Series used Sally Spectra II actress, Courtney Hope as a prime example of wasted talent on the drama.
“She got the short end of the stick with B&B,” Young pointed out. “She was probably single-handedly the most talented actress at that point on the show, in my opinion. She was just great. And they didn’t give her the right amount of story.”
Hope, and Sally Spectra were given new life when the character moved over to Bradley Bell’s sister soap with a one hour format, The Young and the Restless.
Young, however, isn’t bitter about his character not being consistently highlighted. “It is what it is,” he conceded. “I’ve learned to accept that over the years.”
Though Young claims he will not return to B&B, it certainly doesn’t mean Rick Forrester will never return. Just last week Krista Allen stepped into the legacy role of Dr. Taylor Hayes, formerly played by fan-favorite, Hunter Tylo. No stranger to taking over popular roles, Allen took the reins over from Lisa Rinna for three years to play Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives in the late 90’s and already has B&B’s ‘Team Taylor’ fans impressed with her Taylor portrayal.
