It looks like this Christmas is going to be another one that everyone will soon want to forget about. There’s a new report that says Queen Elizabeth is canceling another long-standing holiday tradition for the British Royal Family.
Apparently, the royals will skip out on their traditional walk from Sandringham Castle to St. Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas Day. The only other time that the royals missed out on the traditional walk was last year because of the ongoing global pandemic. Here’s what you need to know.
Queen Elizabeth To Cancel Another Holiday Tradition For The British Royal Family
One source close to the situation told The Mirror, “Of course, everyone would love everything back to normal – but the situation is anything but.”
This is disappointing news for royal fans as many lines up to see Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton while on their walk as it’s one of the very few moments that fans can get up close and personal with the royal family, even if it’s just for a moment or two.
To make matters worse, it was also reported that the Queen will not be hosting a pre-Christmas lunch, too. Those plans have been scrapped as well.
It is understood the decision was a precaution, with a Buckingham Palace source suggesting the meal could put too many people’s Christmas arrangements at risk if it went ahead. During normal, non-pandemic years, the Queen invites her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to join her at Buckingham Palace before she departs for her annual Christmas stay at Sandringham.
Traditionally, the pre-Christmas celebration gives the head of state a chance to catch up with relatives who are unable to travel to Norfolk for Christmas Day.
