Peleton stock price drops in two days after Sex and the City Sequel Premiere

Sometimes it pays to ask for a little more context when giving the go ahead for product placement, as Peleton found out when the Sex and the City Sequel, “And Just Like That” premiered. Apparently, one of the main characters, Big (portrayed by Chris Noth) died of a massive heart attack after riding one of their bikes in the season premiere.

While Peleton knew about and gave the okay for the product placement, they didn’t realize that their product would be showcased right before a well-loved character bit the dust.

A representative for Peleton later tweeted out that using the Peleton product probably delayed Big’s cardiac event, and indeed they’re probably right – scientifically it’s proven that an active lifestyle (which may or may not include Peleton in the regiment) does delay cardiac events.

However, is Peleton truly to blame for Big’s death? First off, no, Big is a fictional character and we’re pretty sure that Chris Noth is actually fine. However, let’s look at a history of the character in the series. Big was known for his lavish lifestyle, he liked good wine, expensive cigars, and steak dinners like most affluent, priveleged men.

When putting things in perspective there’s also things to consider like, family history. We didn’t get too much of that in the actual series itself (Big’s parents were mentioned twice, and his Dad was never portrayed. It was known that he went to church with his Mother though, at least early in the series.), there wasn’t really room for it considering the storyline of both series.

However, it’s not hard to imagine that there was probably some history, and we’ll assume it was on his Dad’s side considering we never saw the guy, so if Big’s Father died of a heart attack, then there was a chance that Big could succumb to a heart attack too, no matter what he did.

So, Peleton shouldn’t really suffer just because Big, a fictional character, bit the dust. However, maybe the next time they give the okay for product placement they’ll ask a few more questions about the scene that their product is going to be in.

It’s a little unfair to the company because if Big had been chowing down on a greasy burger we kind of doubt the same thing would have happened to McDonald’s or Wendy’s, after all, when the Godfather was released and one of the characters died with an orange in his mouth that didn’t affect the sale of oranges. So go on, buy the Peleton, we promise it won’t kill you. Stay tuned!!!
