While the trial has come to an end, with Kyle Rittenhouse being found not guilty of all charges, there are still many questions that people are asking. One of the biggest questions is seemingly a piece of evidence that prosecutors wanted permission to use, but weren’t allowed.
This piece of evidence came in the form of a video of Rittenhouse recording some looters outside of a CVS saying, “I wish I had my f–king AR right now, I’d start shooting rounds at them.”
Take a look at the clip below where he’s standing across the screen and says that he wishes he had his gun,
Why Wasn’t CVS Clip Allowed In Kyle Rittenhouse Trial And Would It Have Swayed The Jury At All?
Had this been admissible in the court, would it have swayed the jurors toward the prosecution at all? Now, it’s all speculation, and while it’s a pretty damning video, it’s hard to say. It was supposedly recorded two weeks before the incident in August 2020, and people say that it is evidence that Kyle Rittenhouse had vigilante intentions.
The 29-second video was published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and does not show Rittenhouse’s face. A voice that is claimed to be Rittenhouse says they wish they had their AR. It’s unclear who filmed the video, where it was filmed, or how prosecutors obtained it.
I think we can tell from a ‘legal standpoint’ why the video wasn’t allowed to be shown. As there wasn’t solid proof that it was Rittenhouse. While we may know it is, there has to be proof without the shadow of a doubt that it is, and he doesn’t appear on the video, and there’s no way of knowing for sure whether it’s his voice.
The judge furthered this by saying the event was ‘dissimilar to the one that occurred with the shooting in Kenosha.
What do you think? Do you think this would have swayed the trial at all and should it have been admitted? Let us know in the comments below.
