Despite the tragic accident that occured, Alec Baldwin wants to make things right. There’s a new report that says the Hollywood actor, who accidentally shot and killed photography director Halyna Hutchins on the set of his film “Rust,” is now calling for police officers to be on the set of Hollywood films to monitor weapons safety. Here’s what you need to know.
Alec Baldwin released a statement that said police officers should be employed on all films and television sets that utilize guns. Tweeting from his now private social media account, Baldwin put it this way, “Every film/TV set that uses guns, fake or otherwise, should have a police office on set, hired by the production, to specifically monitor weapons safety.”
Alec Baldwin Wants The Police To Monitor Weapons Safety On Film Sets Now
Meanwhile, reports say that Alec Baldwin is not out of the woods just yet. Law enforcement officials say they suspect a real bullet was loaded in the antique revolver used by the actor that killed the film’s cinematographer and wounded its director. The same shot mortally wounded cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who later died at a hospital.
“I think there was some complacency on this set and I think there are some safety issues that need to be addressed by the industry and possibly by the state of New Mexico,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said.
In addition, about 500 rounds of ammunition were also seized that included a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and live rounds.
In a separate report, Baldwin’s wife Hilaria Baldwin suggested that her husband might never act again.
“He needs space for me to take care of him and his mental health,” she said. “It’s an awful thing that happened. Alec feels awful. There’s going to be no answers until we hear the results of the investigation. We don’t know what happened, and we have the same questions as everyone does. We want answers faster than anyone. We have to have respect for the process of the authorities.
Hilaria added, “Alec has done movies with guns for 40 years. Nothing like this has ever happened. There should be zero probability of that ever happening.”
