British reality TV star Mark Wright has apologised after receiving huge backlash over his decision to dress up as rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, better known as Daniel Hernandez, over Halloween.

British Reality TV Star Mark Wright Slammed For Dressing Up As Tekashi 6ix9ine For Halloween-‘My Apologies’

Mark, for his part, made the decision to dress up as the colourful rapper in the hope that it would be easily noticeable. After all, 6ix9ine does have over 22 million followers on Instagram.

In the following picture, we can see that Mark is dressed up like him with the rapper’s trademark coloured hair and gold chain. But given the fact that 6ix9ine had reportedly been convicted of a sex crime, Mark’s choice of costume understandably drew criticism.

According to the reports, 6ix9ine had apparently been found guilty of using a child during a sexual performance in 2015. As part of that charge, it is claimed that he had posted three explicit videos of the 13-year-old online.

As a consequence, 6ix9ine was put on probation for four years as well as having to do community service for up to 1,000 hours. In response, Mark apologised for his behaviour.

He said: “My apologies for last night’s Halloween picture. I only knew about Tekashi69’s music and not about his offences. Had I known, it would not have been my choice of costume.”

This apology on social media naturally got people talking. Many felt that Mark should have been more prudent over his behaviour, given that he does have many female fans. In addition, his social media following is over a million, which suggests that his actions did impact a lot of people.

One follower wrote: “@MarkWright_ turning his comments off on Instagram because he’s knows going as a 69 for Halloween is just wrong [sic],” while another stated: “Really @MarkWright_ #halloween2021 #wrong #whatwereyouthinking.”

It is not clear whether there will be any further repercussions for Mark. But given that we are living in a cancel culture period, there is a feeling that his brand has been damaged by it.

The best thing that Mark can do is keep a low profile and avoid making such mistakes in the future by thinking about things first. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
