American sports commentator and former NFL player Michael Irvin has slammed Dallas Cowboys star Amari Cooper, over the latter’s decision to not take the Covid-19 vaccine.

Michael Irvin Blasts Dallas Cowboys Star Amari Cooper Over Not Taking The Covid-19 Vaccine-‘It’s Crazy’

This is the latest NFL player who has come under fire ever since Greenbay Packers star Aaron Rodgers had been accused of lying to the media over his vaccination status when he informed them he was ‘immunized.’

While the Covid-19 vaccine has raised the debate of whether freedom of choice should be taken away at the expense of the majority view, for some including Michael, the decision to not take the vaccine is one that should be condemned.

During an interview with TMZ, Michael was asked whether Amari’s decision was selfish. He said: “I don’t know what word to put on. But I’m absolutely hot about it.

“Are you joking…[So many players] on the bench, at home, not playing. It’s crazy.” The primary reason why Michael feels this way is because the decision to not get vaccinated ultimately ends up impacting the team.

After all, several high-profile stars will not be able to play. And given that the NFL is a team sport, there is a feeling that such a decision lets down the fans and the teammates.

Michael added: “Our job as athletes is to try to remove any reason for not winning the Super Bowl. So you have to try to mitigate any issue that could cost you a game or a Superbowl. And covid is one of them.”

The response on social media was very mixed. Some people felt that there were things bigger than sports, and being healthy is one of them.

As such, no one should be unduly pressured into putting something into their body unless they were 100-percent sure that this was right for them.

Nevertheless, Michael stressed the importance of trying to take as many precautions as possible. His following comments confirmed as much: “Now you can still get it [covid] even after you get vaccinated.

“But it’s a different percentage chance of you getting it. And I need you to get that different percentage chance. I’m so hot on Amari Cooper for not being on that.”
