‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Did Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) Premeditate His Friend’s Murder To Take His Identity?

‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has returned from New Jersey with some shocking information that he wanted to talk to Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) about, however, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) insisted she be a part of the conversation.

What came next was a sob story about how Ashland became the man he is today after he and his best friend were in a car accident. Ashland was flung from the car while his friend died inside. Ashland then thought it’d be a good idea to run into the woods, but not after switching wallets with his “dead” best friend.

‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Did Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) Premeditate His Friend’s Murder To Take His Identity?

I think Ashland (or should I say Bobby DeFranco) planned the accident, and that his friend wasn’t just “driving too fast” but rather Ashland pulled the steering wheel or caused the accident in some capacity so he could steal his friend’s identification and flee to start a new life away from his abusive father.

With all the build-up we’ve been getting to this story, it has to be more than just an accident. There’s definitely something more sinister at play here and I think Ashland premeditated the murder and wanted the job at the television stations, plus, getting away from his family.

At this point, something like this would not be damning enough to make Ashland a “bad” guy, but there is something wrong with him for sure. I think it’s just simply more of a way for him to remain on the show because of the fan reception he’s gotten since joining.
