Remember way back in 2019 when rumors started swirling about Josh Duggar and they came out on social media claiming that it was all fake news and that no one in their family was subject to a federal investigation? That was a carefully crafted PR statement, sources close to the family are now saying that Josh Duggar himself confessed to friends of the family that “the feds are after me”.
So in the months leading up to Josh’s arrest, they knew something was probably going to go down, but it is unclear if they knew the exact reason why or maybe was just turning a blind eye to it. (The latter would not be all that surprising, to be quite honest.)
‘Counting On’: Josh Duggar knew the feds were after him
These same sources however say that they knew something was afoot because Josh’s car lot really wasn’t doing all that well and they suspected that the business may have been a front for something else.
Those who were really close to Duggar did suspect it to be child pornography, considering what was in the news at the time about what he had done to his sisters and that one unnamed babysitter.
One thing that is suspicious is how Jim Bob Duggar, in their dateline interview, alluded to how many people he had talked to who had experienced the “same thing” which begs the question, just how common is this sort of thing within their circle? Yike!
In preparation for his federal case Josh needed some quick cash, so he liquidated his assets by selling his home. However, he still needed a place to live and started living in a gueat house on the Duggar property. No one wants to do that long term, so he attempted to buy the property across the street, but that fell through spectacularly.
That’s when Jim Bob proposed that he get another property on the same land but was met with 100% opposition by Jana Duggar, whom the property belonged to. In an uncharacteristic display of back one for a Duggar woman she stood up to JimBob.
This was also about the time that Jana Duggar broke away from Paul Caldwell‘s church, the rumor was that she was not a fan of the legalistic outlook the church had but it could have very well had something to do with the land deal. (Ironically, the Duggars no longer attend that particular church at all anymore.) What’s the takaway?
That the Duggars and the Duggar-adjacent circle knew that the feds were after Josh for awhile. Stay tuned!
