’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers reveal that, when we met Steven and Alina last week, we kind of wondered what on earth was up with Steven – as it turns out he’s not your conventional guy – he’s Mormon, and therein presents its own set of challenges.

Anyone who’s ever been acquainted with the religion knows that Mormons either aren’t allowed to date outside the faith (in the case of some very devout families) or want whomever their with to convert to the faith soon after they’re married. Steven is of the latter beliefs, but it seems that he hasn’t really had that conversation with fiancé Alina yet simply because Alina had her own views about being a mormon.

Apparently in Russia it is thought that the Mormon church is a cult and there’s a lot of misinformation online saying that they are involved in the trafficking of organ harvesting and that’s what Alina iniitally thought was going to happen when she met Steven in Prague, which is why she brought her Mom along.

They got to know each other for a week, but Alina’s Mom still says that Steven is a veritable stranger to her. The original plan was for Steven to move to Russia, however, that can’t happen due to the borders being closed, so they’re moving to a completely foriegn country – Turkey – in order to be together.

Alina’s Grandmother says that 20 years old is too soon to know that she wants to get married, but is it? Historically, girls have been getting married younger than Alina for ages but she has a point. Just because someone gets married young doesn’t mean that it’s a happy, healthy, or good marriage, in fact a lot of young marriages fail because the people don’t know each other well enough yet.

There is a common myth among young religious folk that marriage is one of the hardest things and that the first year is always the hardest. While in some cases that may be true, does it really have to be? Or is Alina making this transition too hard on herself?

She seems to want to marry Steven, but Steven has also said that he has “fallen short of the church standards” so one wonders if that means that he’s getting married solely for religious reason, in which case… Alina may be biting off a little more than she can chew. (Psst, Alina, search “exmo” on tiktok, it’ll tell you everything you need to know!) We’ll see what happens. Stay tuned!!!
