‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) has been picking up shifts none stop and working herself to death. Today we saw her at Crimson Lights having some tea, trying to unwind before going back to work in 8 hours.
I think the writers are trying to show that nurses and healthcare workers have been swamped during COVID-19 and maybe trying to bring some of that into the show? Though, I’m not entirely sure, as Elena’s entire character has simply been, “she’s working a lot”. Why? What are they trying to tell us?

To further things, she’s also going to be recommended for Chancellor Communications healthcare blog that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) was doing, though, with his new promotion, he’ll have too much going on, so he suggested Elena.
I just think it’s odd that all we’ve seen of Elena and her character lately is that she’s been tired from work. Are they building up to something? Are they simply showing what a lot of healthcare workers are feeling now? Just stuck out to me as odd since he doesn’t go in with any of the current storylines and she’s certainly not starting something new.
There was also that awkward conversation where Nate joked about being able to switch her shifts around now since he’s the boss, where she got very defensive about it and told him to not even joke about it. Is this her way of rubbing it in his face?
There’s so much lately that I just don’t understand, and I don’t think I’m alone at it.
