Feud? What feud? Sarah Ferguson doesn’t seem to remember any feud between her and Princess Diana, or at least admitting to having one in the first place. In fact, there’s a new report that says the Duchess of York apparently “forgot” that she already admitted to having bad blood with the late princess. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Andrew’s ex-wife has seemingly forgotten the fact that she once admitted to having a falling out with Princess Diana. In fact, the two women were reportedly not on speaking terms with one another when Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris back in 1997.
Sarah Ferguson Forgot All About Her Feud With Princess Diana
She told People Magazine in an interview this week, “We promised each other we would always be together — there was never any daylight between us. But everybody wanted (to see a feud) because we were so strong together. People want to break something so strong.”
Yet back in 2007, Sarah told Harper’s Bazaar that Diana had refused to speak to her for at least a year.
“The saddest thing, at the end, (was that) we hadn’t spoken for a year, though I never knew the reason …” Ferguson, 61, told the mag. “I tried, wrote letters, thinking whatever happened didn’t matter, let’s sort it out. And I knew she’d come back. In fact, the day before she died she rang a friend of mine and said, ‘Where’s that Red? I want to talk to her.’”
While no one knows what happened between Fergie and Diana, it must have been bad enough for Prince William to not include her on the invite list for his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.
Fergie told Oprah Winfrey that same year that she was definitely hurt by the snub. She said, “I wanted to be there with my girls … to be getting them dressed and to go as a family. It was so hard, because the last bride up that aisle [at Westminster Abby] was me.”
