‘Days of Our Lives (DOOL)’ spoilers find that a new, old face will soon be seen around Salem. Soap vet, Richard Steinmetz took to social media to share that he has landed a role on on the long-running daytime drama.
Making his soap debut back in the 1980’s as Jeff Hartman on Loving, Steinmetz then moved on to portray Martin Fitzgerald on Passions in the mid-2000s. Most recently, in 2012, he was seen as mobster, Joe Scully Jr. on General Hospital (which picked up a whopping 19 2021 Daytime Emmy nominations).
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Soap Vet Lands Mysterious DOOL Role.
Will Steinmetz be typecast into another mobster role, his character having a past with mob princess Ava Vitali- played by 2021 Daytime Emmy nominee, Tamara Braun? (Tamara has already won two daytime Emmys).
Currently on screens Ava is romancing police commissioner Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), however, it was widely reported that Rafe and Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) were on the road to become Days of Our Lives’ newest supercouple. What happens with Ava that has Rafe’s heart change directions? Could Steinmetz’s new character have anything to do with it?
Another speculation that is picking up momentum is that this new to the canvas role will coincide with Aussie actor, Dan Feuerriegel’s arrival as the new EJ DiMera. Due onto our screens in two weeks, EJ’s return could herald a whole slew of characters following him from Italy to Salem. If connected to EJ, Steinemetz’s new character could have an array of shady dealings in his background.
While Steinmetz (smartly) wouldn’t leak too much info in his social media post, he did say “I start shooting tomorrow,” (May 25) and added that “it’s a terrific role.” He also promised “ ’ll keep you posted… and [let you know] when the episodes start airing.”
So, keep your eye on this space as we get more info and watch Days of Our Lives, weekdays on NBC!
