The Masked Singer has been bringing the nostalgia lately. We haven’t really seen a full episode, but some of the contestants are causing us to check out their performances after the unmasking. First, there was LeAnn Rimes, who won the show last year as The Sun.
Then, we wrote about how Tamara Mowry of Sister Sister appeared as the Seashell. Now, we have another flashback artist getting back into the mainstream. Let’s take a look at who is behind The Russian Dolls and how they’re adapting to the times.
Playing games on The Masked Singer
So, what caught our eye about this The Masked Singer constant was their costume choice. We have childhood memories of playing with of these dolls at a relative’s house. These dolls have other dolls inside that keep getting smaller and opening up a new one.
The costume choice really messed with the panel. We watched a Billy You So Crazy video where he reacted to the different clues and performances, and The Russian Dolls kept surprising the judges by bringing out yet another doll. We loved it, but a lot of hard-core fans were able to tell quickly who was behind that costume. Who was it?
Being a part of @MaskedSingerFOX was a blast. We may not have been the last performer standing, but we were definitely the last band standing! Check out this performance of the Elton John classic. pic.twitter.com/MJQXAcsFtH

Comeback on The Masked Singer
The costume belonged to Issac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson. If those names sound familiar, they should. They took the pop world over in the late ‘90s with “MMMbop” as well as a few other hits. In recent years, they’ve been doing their own albums and getting a lot of low-key critical and fan acclaim for their work.
After the unmasking, they spoke to several outlets about the experience. Here are a few fun facts about their appearances. One, when you saw the big doll, there were two people in it. Two, they have another musician brother they wanted to bring on stage, but it was apparently against the rules.
And three, they probably wouldn’t have done the show in any other year, because they’d usually be too busy touring. Without the ability to go on the road, they wanted to challenge themselves.
We loved the performances we saw, without favorite being the ironic choice, “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. It’s a fun, feel-good track that is pure ‘80s, but unfortunately, it was the last one they performed before being unmasked and sent home. Check it out above, it’s great. Also, you’ll find some great stories about their time on the show in these articles.
After The Masked Singer
Now that the group is done performing on TV each week, they’re turning their focus to another project. They had recently announced Against the World is forthcoming. They’re planning to release one song each month before putting the entire collection out. In one interview, they said the choice was unlike any release before, and they did it because of the inability to tour.
They wanted to keep the momentum going and give fans something new each month to enjoy. We’re personally looking forward to seeing what they have to offer, and we’re sorry to see their time on TV come to an end. But we’re sure this will give the group much-deserved exposure for their new music.
