Telenovela news reveal there’s a lot on the way from Telemundo. While we’ve been more partial to Univision’s lineup (and the ratings are definitely in favor of Telemundo’s rival), we think their new shows are going to bring us back—at least, for a while. We’ll definitely be choosing Univision’s 8 PM slot once Vencer el Pasado premieres. But let’s take a look at some of the shows coming to the network.

Telenovela news: Old and new business
First, Telenovela news reveals the recent upfront presentation spoke of the ones we’ve mentioned here: Parientes a la Fuerza, Hercai, and the Malverde period drama. The network has also announced Diario de un Gigoló (Diary of a Gigolo). The latter will tell the story of a man from a bad background who becomes a male escort. He’ll fall in love with someone he was paid to romance, leading to some complications and personal introspection.
Telenovela news: The Queen Returns
In the most exciting Telenovela news (for us) La Reina del Sur (Queen of the South) will finally be back. The network revealed there would be a season 3 a while back—we’re thinking last year—and a season trailer. Since then, there’s been no talk of the show at all. Well, their upfront presentation promises the 2021-2022 season will see the third installment. It will continue the story of Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo), who is apparently now in jail for the supposed murder of several Drug Enforcement Agents.
Once again, Teresa will be pulled into a mission she hopes will end with a reunion with her daughter, SofÃa Dantes (Isabella Sierra). Given many consider season 2 to be a huge improvement over the already popular first season, we’re holding out hope for a good offering this time around. After all, Telemundo has had a bit of a problem with their continuing series.
Telenovela news: The story continues…
Finally, Telenovela news reveals there is a returning series called, Pasión de Gavilanes (Hidden Passion). This will be the second season for the show, which will see the two main families united decades after the original season. However, a possible murder will change all that. What’s interesting to us is, the show’s first season came out in the early 2000s. This isn’t the first time they’ve done something like this. La Reina del Sur waited about 8 years before another season came out. Same with the ParaÃso franchise. Pasión will just be jumping ahead in time more than the others did. We’ll be curious to see if the new season can hold fans’ interest. Stay tuned, as we’ll keep you updated on any new information about release dates as it becomes available.
