Kathy Hilton revealed the moment that she decided to stop watching the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Kathy, for her part, could no longer deal with the drama that continued to unfold throughout the show. A primary example of this was when Kyle Richards and Kim Richards infamously had gotten into a huge fight. The duo were involved in an altercation at Taylor Armstrong’s party, as Kim had visibly been drinking. To make matters worse, Kim would end up going into rehab.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Kathy said: “I don’t watch the show … I did up until [Kyle and Kim’s] big fight, and then that was it. The big limo fight. That was it for me.” The decision was primarily due to the fact that Kathy is half-sisters with Kim and Kyle. Therefore, it is not the easiest thing in the world to go and see your family fighting in front of the cameras.
Nevertheless, it did have a positive impact for several reasons. First of all, the sisters would go on to reunite and become closer as a family unit. Second of all, this led to the inadvertent consequence of Kathy appearing on the show in 2020. That only went on to improve her relationships with Kim and Kyle. She added: “We went back and forth this 11th season many, many, many times.
“It was touch and go for about three months. And then finally I thought, ‘This is a great opportunity to spend time with Kyle.” Looking back, Kathy does not have any regrets over joining. She has been praised by the other stars of the show for the positive impact that she has brought to the viewers. Teddi Mellencamp was very vocal about her happiness at the thought of Kathy joining the show.
This may explain Teddi’s decision to rejoin the show after barely leaving-albeit on a cameo basis. In a previous interview on the ‘Here the Right Reasons’ podcast, Teddi praised Kathy. She said: “[Kathy] is hilarious. I can’t wait to see her. She is going to be TV gold. She’s so funny. She lights up the screen.”
