Well, it looks like Prince Harry wasn’t completely off the mark. Apparently, his brother Prince William also agrees that their father Prince Charles could have done a better job in the parenting department. Here’s what you need to know.
Speaking to Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast, the Duke of Sussex accused Charles of handing him down a “cycle of genetic pain” and that “he treated me the way he was treated,” suggesting that Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth weren’t the best royal parents, either.
Prince William Thinks Prince Charles Could Have Been A Better Father, Too
And now the Daily Mail columnist Dan Wootton says the Duke of Cambridge also agrees with his brother that Charles could have done a better job, both before and after their mother Princess Diana died.
Wootton writes, “The gulf between Prince William and Harry over the way they intend to publicly deal with their father has become seismic. In private, the Duke of Cambridge has shared many of his brother’s views about Prince Charles’ parenting ability in the past. However, the thought of broadcasting such private family matters in the incendiary way Harry has over the past week on an American podcast would horrify the second in line to the throne.”
With that said, Prince William still doesn’t think that Prince Harry should be making a career for himself throwing their entire family under the bus and so publicly, too.
Wootton says that one royal source puts it this way, “Prince William is, of course, saddened by the recent developments because of the way Prince Harry is putting such deeply personal pain into the public domain, invading all the family’s privacy. It is fair to say that, even now, William does privately have conversations about the relationship with his father, which has been strained in the past. There was much hurt after his mother’s death and both brothers at times found their father’s commitment to his work difficult to comprehend.”
