‘Days of Our Lives (DOOL)’ spoilers find that Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) loves playing a villainess on the popular daytime soap, but it does come with its downside.
It’s easy to hate Gwen Rizczech. From the start she has set out to ruin father, Jack Devereaux (Matthew Ashford) and half-sister, Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) lives, and somewhat succeeded. Emily understands that viewers aren’t exactly fans of Gwen, even though the actress defends her character’s M.O.

Apparently some fans can’t quite grasp where Gwen ends and portrayer, Emily starts. Emily has found herself being attacked on social media for Gwen’s dastardly deeds! Dishing about the treatment she’s been getting, the actress exclaimed, “You realize that I am not that person? I’m not a drugging type in real life. Please differentiate the two. Please don’t attack me personally!”
Though she doesn’t engage in the vitriol, she does express shock that some viewers will email her personally to attack her. “I think, my goodness, you realize I’m being paid to do this?”
However, what was initially tough for the actress soon became a bonding moment with some of the other actresses on the long-running sudser. Both Marci and Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) can commiserate with Emily. They shared their own hurtful stories with the newbie, some which were far worse than what Emily herself is enduring from fans.
“It was very comforting knowing they shared similar experiences,” Emily said.
She is also willing to take the bad, as the good outweighs it by a mile. Never a dull moment when portraying Gwen, she promises that her character will soften, and soon. In fact, a new person, will shortly come into Gwen’s life, becoming her confidante and forcing Gwen to question her motives and actions. The domino effect will make Gwen realize the error of her ways, ultimately making her more human.
Until then, we will see how much more Abigail will suffer at Gwen’s unflinching hand.
