‘Counting On’ Spoilers reveal there was a wannabe politician named Jim Bob Duggar. He had a wife and a lot of children (or, arrows, as they referred to it in his religion) and he thought he was doing the work of the Lord by spitting out kids like an assembly line.

That is until one day he lost an election and because of a bible verse referring to “sin in the camp” where some Israelite soldiers sinned against God and had to be “rooted out” that’s when he started paying attention to what his son Josh Duggar, AKA “the little governor” was actually doing to his sisters.

‘Counting On’: What passes as ‘therapy’ in the mind of Jim Bob Duggar

In other words, what we’re seeing now started as Josh being blamed for losing an election by his Dad, and instead of seeking actual counseling and actual therapy for what he was going through at the time, this is the kind of “counseling” and “therapy” that Jim Bob got for his son. So, he was forced to come forward in the church and “confess” his sins, there, his head was shaved completely bald like a cueball.

Then, instead of talking out the issues he was having, he was told not to speak at all, at all, and then rounded up and driven out to his pastor’s shed. There, for a few months he was forced to dig out a pond for his pastor.

This “treatment” was supposed to be a metaphor for sin. When he was digging out this pond, he was supposed to be focusing on God and digging out all the “sin” from his mind, it was supposed to represent what he was supposed to be doing internally while digging out this pond.

According to Jim Bob at the time, this kind of therapy was “good enough” and since Josh completed it and probably, in the most conservative christian speak ever, told them that he was “cured” he was allowed to come back to the Duggar home. Little did they know that they just made Josh a lot better at hiding the stuff that he was going to do anyway.

The lack of actual, clinical counseling only served to make Josh a lot more crafty at what he was already doing… and now he’s in Federal Prison for it. Jim Bob and Michelle were always very vague about what they did about Josh’s problem, and now we know why – because they didn’t really do anything. Stay tuned!!! 7
