Holy cracker barrels. Netflix has reportedly shelled out $30 million for a decades-in-the-making documentary about Kanye West.
That’s right – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t the only ones making money off the online streaming service, as a new docuseries on all things Kanye will be making our way soon enough. Here’s what oyu need to know.
The untitled project is the work of Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah — also known as Coodie & Chike — who worked with Kanye West early in his career. The pair directed two of West’s first music videos, “Through the Wire” and the third version of “Jesus Walks.”

With that said, Kanye certainly won’t make a boring documentary subject, especially given his status as a celebrity firebrand.
News of the film comes weeks after Kanye West won his first Grammy Award in eight years, Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, for his 2019 LP, Jesus Is King.
According to Fox News Business, Kanye’s wealth is tied up in his apparel businesses and he is worth an estimated $6 billion dollars. Yes, you read that correctly: billion. He has an additional $1.7 billion in other assets, including a major investment in his estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear line.
In addition, he’s got two major partnerships with both The Gap and Adidas. The German sports apparel company called its deal with Kanye West “the most significant partnership ever created between a non-athlete and an athletic brand.”
