JoJo Siwa says that she has no regrets about coming out, even though she’s gotten a major backlash from parents who say that they won’t allow their children to follow her or her career anymore.
And while stars like JoJo will always have their critics, the blonde beauty says that she’s very thankful for all of the love and support she’s gotten from her fans and supporters so far. Here’s what she has to say.
“I’ve never gotten this much support from the world,” the former Dance Moms star told People Magazine. “I think this is the first time that I’ve felt so personally happy. Performing has always made me super happy. But for the first time, personally, I am like, whoa, happiness. I am so proud to be me.”

With that said, JoJo added that she shies away from labels, saying she’s trying to figure out her sexuality.
“I still don’t know what I am. It’s like, I want to figure it out,” she admits. “And I have this joke. Her name is Kylie. And so I say that I’m Ky-sexual. But like, I don’t know, bisexual, pansexual, queer, lesbian, gay, straight. I always just say gay because it just kind of covers it or queer because I think the keyword is cool.”
JoJo added that while she’s super happy with the response that she’s so far gotten from her fans, she did make the mistake of googling herself and reading some of the comments she’s gotten after coming out.
“I never should have done that. I was thinking that all the comments were going to be nice and supportive, and they weren’t,” she recalls. “A lot of them were, ‘I’m never buying your merch again. My daughter’s never watching you again.’ I couldn’t sleep for three days.”
“My thing is, I don’t want people to watch my videos or buy my merchandise if they aren’t going to support not only me, but the LGBTQ community,” she explains.
Back in Feburary JoJo also said that it was her girlfriend that encouraged her to come out. The multi-talented cutie also said that even though all of her friends and family members already knew about her LGBTQ identity, it was her girlfriend who encouraged her to come out and confirm the news with the world.
“I was doing TikTok with the people in the Pride House… and I’m like, ‘I think this TikTok is going to out me,'” Siwa said of the video posted on Jan. 23, which showed her dancing with the group to Paramore’s “Ain’t It Fun.” “I was like, ‘I don’t really mind, it is true. I do have the most amazing, wonderful, perfect, most beautiful girlfriend in the whole world. It’s not something I’m ashamed of, I just haven’t shown the internet yet.'”
