If there’s one person that Candace Cameron Bure can always count on during the good times and the bad, it’s her television dad. Bob Saget was forced to defend the actress against claims that she is “fake.”
Instead, he says that she is just an incredibly positive person who just happens to be much happier in her life than a lot of the social media users that follow her on a daily basis. In fact, Bob even said that she shouldn’t feel ashamed for having a perky personality. Here’s what you need to know.
During a recent appearance on Bob Saget’s “Here For You” podcast, Bure said her cheery personality is often mistaken by the public as an act. He assured Cameron that she is the opposite of “fake.”
Bob Saget Defends Candace Cameron Bure Amid New Criticism
“When you are doing anything, you don’t phone it in,” he said. “You’re a businesswoman. You sell things and you try to put your branding on it. That means something to you. You’re not going to sell something that doesn’t mean anything to you, and you’re not faking.”
Bob Saget went on to say that the way Bure handles herself in the public eye is “beautiful” and “earnest.”
“And I’m sorry you’re perky sometimes! What’s wrong with being perky?” the comedian continued.
Bob even added that Candace has a “positive glow” about her back in the day when they used to film Full House in the 1980s and 1990s together.
“And that doesn’t mean you don’t become a teenager and go through the stuff that girls and women and men and boys go through. You know, you’re a positive person. So if you’re perky, it’s because you’re excited and/or you’ve had a lot of caffeine,” he added.
For Candace though, she’s used to the criticism.
“Listen, on social media, everyone gets criticized, and if you are a celebrity, I mean, it just comes with the territory, and I can handle it,” she said in an interview with Extra. “But the second someone starts to criticize my children, or say negative things like that, mama bear comes out.”
