While 2020 has certainly been a different kind of year, it was also a year in which Internet trolls spent a lot of time bashing, criticizing, and harassing Candace Cameron Bure. That’s why the television actress is speaking out and making it pretty clear that she’s not ashamed to fight back against her online haters.
In an interview with Extra, the Fuller House star is responding to her online critics and says that she doesn’t regret her ‘clap backs’ at all. However, she says that there are some things that have been said that cross the line.
Candace Cameron Bure Just Wants Her Online Critics To Chill
“Listen, on social media, everyone gets criticized, and if you are a celebrity, I mean, it just comes with the territory, and I can handle it,” said Bure. “But the second someone starts to criticize my children, or say negative things like that, mama bear comes out.”
“I just had to remind people that there are real people with real feelings behind the screen and I’m not posting for your negativity. In that instance, I was simply sharing a family photo that was so beautiful to me. Even a hint of people criticizing my family picture I wasn’t going to take.”
Earlier this month Candace was forced to explain to her social media followers why she decided to follow controversial figures such as former President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump on Instagram.
In one of her Instagram stories, Candace explained that she simply likes to follow people who have different views and that she follows just as many people on the “right” as she does on the “left.”
“I read several comments from people, and I think there’s quite a bit of new followers, so thank you if you’re still around for following me here,” she said.
Candace said people seemed “disappointed” in who she was following and “it’s always strange to me because I follow a very broad range of people — politically, within my work industry and then personal friends and things I like.”
“A follow does not mean an endorsement,” she pointed out. “A follow does not mean I agree with everything they say and do. It just means I follow a broad range of people so that I have perspective. I want to know what’s going on in the world, I want to hear different sides of the argument. I follow people in entertainment that I don’t necessarily agree with or act the same way, but I want to hear what our society, what culture is dishing out.”
