Daisy Ridley says that she’s been called “intimidating” and “aggressive” by some of her male co-workers and bosses in the past.
While speaking to The Evening Standard, the Star Wars actress opened up about some of her past work experiences and how she didn’t know if she was living up to some people’s expectations or if she was indeed coming across as someone a bit too pushy. Here’s what she has to say.
During her interview, Daisy recalled the moment that she was called intimidating while on the set of Chaos Walking. She said, “I’ve been told that I’m intimidating. “I was having my hair done, having my wig put on, I remember thinking, “God, should I be smaller? Should I be quieter?”’
Daisy Ridley Says Her Male Co-Workers Have Called Her ‘Aggressive’
And as far as being called an “aggressive” person in the entertainment industry, Daisy said, “I’ve been called aggressive, too; my energy is ‘quite aggressive’. That was during a meeting with a director. I was thinking: ‘But why? Is it because I maintained eye contact? Is it because I’m passionate about what we’re talking about?’ I dunno. You have that horrible sinking feeling of, God, do I not come across the way I think I do?”
Now, as far as why she decided to keep her private life on lockdown from the tabloid press, the brunette beauty puts it this way, “When I signed on to Star Wars, there was nothing in my contract that said: ‘Your life will be talked about. It got to the point where I realized so much of my life was out there…People knew my mum’s name, my dad’s name, what my sisters do for a living. And I thought it would be nice to have something that’s for me, that isn’t for everybody else. I just thought I would keep that separate.”
