Rose McGowan, one of the women who spearheaded the #MeToo movement, has made a statement in regards to the allegations of abuse and assault that have been made against shock-rocker and ex-fiance, Marilyn Manson. And she made no bones about whose side she’s on.
“I stand with Evan Rachel Wood and other brave women who have come forward.” McGowan wrote on Twitter. “It takes years to recover from abuse and I send them strength on their journey to recovery. Let the truth be revealed. Let the healing begin.”

McGowan was engaged to Manson for two years. She cited “lifestyle differences” as the cause of their separation and later expanded, saying Manson’s drug use was the biggest issue in the relationship.
Rose McGowan speaks out on the allegations against ex-fiance Marilyn Manson.
In a video posted to Instagram, McGowan elaborated on her support for Manson’s accusers, including Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood
McGowan said she was “profoundly sad and disgusted” (at the allegations), and “proud” of Wood and the other woman who came forward with their stories. She continued to say her relationship with Manson was “not like that” but that her experience had “no bearing on whether he was like that with others before or after”.
After panning all abusers she went on to criticize the ‘Hollywood cult leaders’. “You know you are accomplices,” McGowan said. “All the PR managers, agents, lawyers – the Hollywood cult must be stopped.”
Manson, who has been dropped by his record label and publicist in the wake of the scandal issued a statement from his Instagram account. He denied all allegations of abusing or assaulting his former partners.
“Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality,” he said.
“My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”
California state senator Susan Rubio has written to both the attorney general and FBI director urging them to investigate the claims.
