Evan Rachel Wood came out to her fans and explained to them, via social media that she had been sexually abused by Marilyn Manson. She wrote, “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also know to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission.”

Many other people started to open up more about his abuse and there were a few hours of silence from Manson, but he decided to speak his peace as well.

Just hours after Wood chose to speak out about Manson’s abuse, and ten years later, he posted on Instagram. He wrote, “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how-and why- others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Wood went on to say, “I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.” Rose McGowan, who was engaged to Manson previously, spoke out as well. “I stand with Evan Rachel Wood and other brave women who have come forward. It takes years to recover from abuse and I send them strength on their journey to recovery. Let the truth be revealed. Let the healing begin.”

As soon as all of this came up, Manson was dropped from his record label. Evan has talked before about being sexually abused in relationships. In 2016, she talked to Rolling Stone about her abusers, but never mentioned any names. Clearly, she wasn’t ready to let the cat out of the bag.

She said she was “raped” twice- once “by a significant other” and one more time “by the owner of a bar.” Wood dated Manson when she was only 18 years old in 2006. They were engaged for seven months and then broke up in 2010.

Manson was interviewed after Wood spoke out and they asked if he was involved in this. His team told the reporters, “We have advised our client not to comment further on your article.” He has continued to deny these allegations and it looks like he will stand by his statements.
