Haven’t we learned anything from the last several years? Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who has no political experience whatsoever, says that he would consider a future presidential run, if that’s “what the people wanted.” Is it? Here’s what you need to know.
Even though the country had one former reality television star as its President and two former Hollywood actors as the governors of the great state of California, Dwayne Johnson is considering a run for the highest office in the land, should the people want it.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Just Shared A Really Bad Idea
He would be the first person to go from inside the WWE wrestling ring to the inside of the Oval Office. Speaking with USA Today this week, Dwayne addressed the renewed rumors that he may make a real-life bid for commander-in-chief one day.
“I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer,” he said. “That would be up to the people. … So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for critics to react to Dwayne’s comments, and let’s just say, the people “don’t want it.”
Some comments from social media users have included, “Thank you. I think we’ve proven that anyone who can grow up to be President may not be the best idea ever. We need people to understand how to lead and represent us. I think Dwayne Johnson is a great guy but I don’t want him in the WH,” along with, “He’s not qualified to be president. Honestly, enough of this nonsense. If he wants to serve, at the very least join the PTA at his kid’s school or something. Run for mayor of his town. Enough already. And that goes for all the other celebrities.”
Another critic wrote, “Uh okay, that’s not what the people want though, so don’t worry about it, dude. It really bothers me that these privileged men with NO political experience think they’re qualified to be president when women who have dedicated their entire lives to public service still have no shot. It’s insulting.”
So far Dwayne Johnson has not made any comments about the criticism.
