It looks like the breakout star from last week’s Inauguration happens to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff. The college student inked a contract with one of the world’s most prestigious modeling agencies, IMG Models.
Following the announcement that inaugural poet Amanda Gorman has also signed with the same agency, IMG revealed that Emhoff will be also joining the ranks of the currently top supermodels of the fashion industry. Emhoff is currently a senior at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she is studying fine arts with a focus on textiles.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ Stepdaughter Ella Emhoff Gets Major Modeling Contract
Ivan Bart, the president of IMG Models, spoke about the deal with the New York Times. “It’s not really about shape, size or gender any more,” Bart said. “Ella communicates this moment in time. There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.”
Emhoff also said in the same interview, “I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline. As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body.”
Ella also said her family was “protective” of her and initially hesitant about the modeling deal, because of how “intense” the industry can be. But, “when they saw my interest in it and saw what is changing in that world… I think they’re pretty excited I can be part of that.”
The trendsetter has already updated her Insta bio to reflect her association with IMG.
