A live-action series based on ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ is in the works. Derek Kolstad, writer of “John Wick” is creating a pitch based around the popular fantasy game. This year has seemed to reignite interest in the game while being stuck at home during the pandemic.

Kolstad is also a writer for Marvel’s new Disney+ show, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. He could definitely bring some great action to a ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ film!

In the meantime, Hasbro is also in talks to create their own “Dungeons & Dragons’ projects. Three ‘Dungeons of Dragons’ films were made from 2000 to 2012 and Chris Pine has reportedly starring in another one in 2022 for Paramount.

2020 made an interesting year for ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ as the popular game gained a big boost and players began streaming and playing online more.

This is exciting news for fans of the role-playing game and being someone who started playing D&D this year, this would be a perfect time for a film or series of the game.

There are a lot of veterans and new players who are dying for a good series, though it would be quite a challenge as the actual game is so open-ended based on player choice.

Kolstad may be the perfect choice to pen something like this.

The role-playing game was first published in 1974 by game designers Ernest Gary Gygax and David Arneson, but it rose to prominence throughout the 1980s. Tens of millions of Americans have played the game, which is arguably one of the largest role-playing franchises in the world.
