Even though she is considered to be one of the most successful, talented and beautiful women in the world, Jennifer Lopez says there was a time in her life that she felt as though she didn’t love herself enough. The Hollywood star recently opened up about her past relationships and how she felt about herself while she was with some of her former partners. Here’s what she has to say.
The ‘Love Don’t Cost A Thing’ hitmaker sat down with Coach Conversations to discuss her past life, including all of the highs and lows that she experienced while in the spotlight, too.
Jennifer Lopez Says She Didn’t Love Herself In Her Late 30s
“I remember when I was going through therapy at the beginning, you know, kind of in my late 30s and there was a lot of talk about loving yourself and I was like, ‘I love myself,'”Jennifer said.
“But obviously I was doing all these things in like my personal relationships that didn’t seem like I was loving myself, but I didn’t even understand the concept of it,” she continued, adding, “It took time and it’s a journey and it’s still a journey for me.”
While Jennifer didn’t specify exactly which relationship she was talking about, the actress and singer was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2011. The ex-couple share two children together, Max and Emme.
In a separate interview with W Magazine, Jennifer did admit that her split from the Latin crooner was perhaps one of the most difficult times in her life.
“When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment and anger,” Jennifer said in 2016. “But Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do.”
