Netflix’s ‘Holidate’ stars Emma Roberts (Sloan) and Luke Bracey (Jackson) as two strangers who meet in the mall and come to an agreement that they’ll spend holidays together so their families don’t keep asking them questions and worrying about their social life. Of course, through a series of events, they end up falling for each other.

If you’re able to get past the cliche story, it wasn’t a terrible watch and had some pretty funny moments actually. I didn’t go into this film expecting a whole lot, and if that’s what you do, you’ll probably enjoy it as well.

It is a rather dirty comedy, so if you’re not a fan of foul language or dick jokes, maybe skip this one. However, if you’re a fan of a dirty mouth and odd humor, you should give it a watch. Roberts does pretty well with the role (while it’s not asking a lot), and Bracey brings a fun sense of humor to his role as Jackson.

Throughout their series of “Holidates” they end up slowly falling for each other more and more, though neither wants to admit it and possibly ruin what they have. It’s the classic “friends with benefits” trope, but it’s made into a different way here and one that fits in with the Holiday season.

The supporting cast does a pretty good job as well, in particular, Kristin Chenoweth’s role as Roberts’ overzealous aunt who has trouble finding love. It’s worth the watch for a few laughs but not something I’d probably watch again.

If you just want some funny moments and a genuine cast that’s enjoyable, give it a watch. I’d probably give it like a 6/10 if I were forced to rate it. It definitely has it’s moments.
