Netflix’s ‘The Liberator’ is a new project based on Alex Kershaw’s acclaimed WWII book ‘The Liberator’ and is now a new animated project. You’ll follow the Allied assault into Germany this Veteran’s Day and it’s all based on true events!
The trailer is something else, and while the story and history of the project is what’s important, all we can really pay attention to at the moment is the animation. It’s a strange mix of animation with live-action and it flows beautifully on the screen, like a comic book come to life. Take a look at the teaser below that was uploaded with the following description,
“Alex Kershaw’s acclaimed WWII nonfiction book The Liberator is now a bold new animated project. Follow the 157th regiment from Sicily to the heart of Germany when The Liberator premieres this Veteran’s Day. A diverse, dedicated, rough-and-tumble squad of soldiers spearheads the Allied invasion of Italy during World War II. Based on true events.”

Of course, a lot of people commented on the interesting style of the project, “Crew – “wanna make the film animated or real casting?” Director – “both” Director – “we improvise”, “Band of Brothers, but animated.”, “The way this looks is how Saga should be done.”, “I don’t know if I like this style of hate it”, and “Ok that’s stunningly beautiful”.
There’s no denying that from a short teaser this immediately captures our attention, though the concern is, will this be too distracting after a whole series or film with it? I don’t think so. I’m super interested in how this will turn out and just seeing something new has my hopes up. Not to mention the incredible story!
