WWE fans have been debating all weeklong who the rightful owner of the tag ‘Mr SummerSlam’ is. There is not much debating that ‘Mr WrestleMania’ is Shawn Michaels, as he often saved his best performances for the biggest show of the year.
However, there have been a number of superstars down the years that have saved their very best for SummerSlam, which remains one of the biggest nights on the WWE calendar. A strong case can be made for a number of superstars, but is Seth Rollins the rightful owner of that tag?
WWE News: Is Seth Rollins Mr SummerSlam?
There have been very few superstars that have saved their very best for SummerSlam more so than Seth Rollins. He has saved his best matches for this PPV, as it is hard to pick a bad match that he has had at this show.
Rollins is consistently one of the best superstars on the roster, and he has won many titles during his time at the top of the company. However, many of those notable wins have come at SummerSlam.
He has won championships such as the Intercontinental, Universal and tag team at this show. Rollins also made history five years ago as he beat John Cena to become the only man to hold both the WWE Championship and United States Championship at the time.
Rollins will be looking to continue that momentum at SummerSlam after beating Brock Lesnar in the main event last year when he takes on Dominik Mysterio at this year’s event.
WWE News: Other Notable Mentions
Rollins isn’t the only superstar that has saved his best for SummerSlam, as there have been countless others that have done the same. Most recently, AJ Styles has been phenomenal at SummerSlam, as he has won three of his four matches.
He beat John Cena in a clinic in 2016, and has also beaten Samoa Joe and Ricochet. The calibre of matches have been fantastic, and it’s almost hard to believe that he has been left off the card this year.
Brock Lesnar is another superstar that it would be hard to argue as Mr SummerSlam, as he has come up against a plethora of renowned superstars at SummerSlam. During his career, he has beaten The Rock, John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton and Triple H at this PPV. There aren’t many superstars that can claim to have beaten them superstars throughout their career never mind at just one PPV.
