The Friends Reunion Might Get Pushed Back To 2021

Say it isn’t so! There are new reports that suggest the Friends reunion, which was supposed to happen back in May, has been postponed yet again. Earlier reports indicated that Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc were all supposed to get together to film a reunion special for the new online streaming network HBO Max this month, but it looks like it will get postponed yet again. Here’s what you need to know.

The Friends cast was supposed to get together to film in front of a live studio audience this month, but because of the ongoing global pandemic that has been the coronavirus. The much-anticipated reunion still has no filming date set in stone, with some suggesting that it might not even happen until 2021.

In July, David Schwimmer offered an update on filming, saying, “I can tell you that we are hoping to shoot [the reunion] in August, in mid-August, but honestly, we will do it when it’s safe. There has always been a hope that a component of that reunion show will have a live audience, which makes the whole thing really tricky. We are obviously not going to risk anyone’s health by doing this.”

Meanwhile, Lisa Kudrow too has insisted that everyone is willing to wait until the coronavirus pandemic has subsided in order for them to do it right. She said, “There hasn’t really been any talk about doing it remotely. I mean, it was an immediate ‘no’ if this was brought up. That’s not what this is. We are not doing it remotely.”

Jennifer Aniston told Variety this week that the reunion will still happen, even if it will have to be pushed back several more times. “It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been,” she told the outlet. “So I choose to see it as the glass is half full that it got postponed. Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of ‘Friends,’ sorry. You’re stuck with us for life, guys.”
