TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: Happily Ever After’ spoilers finds that Andrei Castravet and Elizabeth Potthast seem to have a very bumpy relationship. Viewers do not like the way that he speaks to her.
In fact, Elizabeth is constantly rolling her eyes and just walking away from Andrei when he talks to her. Can you blame her? Andrei has been getting a lot of backlash for the way that he treats her and now he is speaking out about it.
TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: Happily Ever After’ Spoilers – The Stress In Moldova
The couple recently went back to Moldova, Andrei’s home, to have their second wedding. Elizabeth is trying her best to get to know his family better, but it is tough considering she doesn’t speak the language.
The couple wanted to come clean about a lot of the scenes fans have watched since the season started. Andrei also wanted to talk to fans about the way that he speaks to Elizabeth.
TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: Happily Ever After’ Spoilers – Andrei Casstravet Defends Himself
Most viewers of the TLC hit show have seen Andrei expressing his opinion about pretty much everything. This has a tendency to make Elizabeth irritated. In the last episode, she walked away from him because of how rude he was to her.
Andrei and Elizabeth told fans that these are not fights though and even though Andrei comes off as rude, he is not being that way.
“It may come across as super rude, but to me, I understand him and where he’s coming from, and I know that it’s not a jab at me or intentionally being rude to me. I think that’s just his voice and his accent and him being a man, and you throw that all together and it comes off as rude. I don’t take it that way,” Elizabeth told fans.
She added in, “Watching it back I can see what they would see watching it. I can understand what they’re saying, but again, I know my husband and I know that he wouldn’t purposely try to put me down. I think he is just such a strong person and he comes off really mean, but to me, I understand what he is saying.”
In last week’s episode, fans were concerned about why he called her a c**t during their chat. It was extremely rude and any man that calls his wife that clearly has some issues. “I curse sometimes and I’m not going to hide it. I maybe curse a lot. There was a little bit of friction and after that we exploded,” Andrei told fans about the scene in question.
“Sometimes she does it to me, but it’s not show. They put me in, you know, a bad light, but this actually happens, she does it too because she’s very strong. She’s very stubborn. I think she’s a sweetheart. I think she’s loving, but she can show her teeth. She can be aggressive to me, sometimes. It happens, I’m handling it. I thank her, I guess.”
The couple continues to have their ups and downs but after hearing their words about one another, we are more convinced than ever that this relationship has some serious issues. Andrei failed to clear himself of the accusations, and in fact tip toed around the serious questions (of what exactly he said that was bleeped out). Elizabeth also made more excuses as Andrei’s behavior is clearly verbal abuse with the potential of hinting at more. In the youtube comment section, it looks like over 95% of people don’t buy Andrei’s stories and think Elizabeth is making excuses and/or enabling the behavior.
If Elizabeth is indeed in an abusive relationship, one of the signs of it is normally denial and/or excusing the behavior. That is a hallmark of abuse. Also, there is potential gaslighting by Andrei, who is trying to put all the blame on Elizabeth and making himself look misunderstood while also attempting to make Elizabeth and the 90 Day Fiancé fanbase feel as if they are irrational in feeling what they feel: which is that Andrei is rude, and potentially downright abusive (At least in a verbal way). We often see Andrei make his case that Elizabeth can be just as bad as he is, yet we never see those moments.
And Elizabeth is just left shaking her head, as if she just doesn’t know what to think or feel about it all. This suits the definition of gaslighting, which is when someone uses manipulative tactics to make someone doubt their own sanity or reality. The way Elizabeth is reluctantly defending Andrei’s actions makes it looks as if her mind is doing some uncomfortable contortion to make sense of everything that is going on.
We will just have to wait and see what happens next on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. It airs on TLC on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. EST.
