CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For July 20: History Changes
We’ll get to visit with the Brooks and Foster families that were at opposite ends of the spectrum. At the time, the Brooks were the wealthy family while the Fosters were anything but. It was a story set in a class conflict that helped set the show apart and added real-world angst to the storyline and characters.
While these families have largely disappeared into the annals of history as they’ve been replaced by the Newmans and Abbotts. Well, maybe replaced isn’t the right word.
Through the years, the two families have intertwined with each other and other families. The Fosters eventually merged with the Abbotts and are survived by Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), who also serves as the only Foster still on the show.
The Brooks took a more indirect route, with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) being the only representation they currently have on the show. As odd as it may seem, the two families that were so often at odds are tied together through Theo, who is related to the Abbotts.
It’s the type of family tree mess we only expect on soap operas, but it’s fun to get a brief glimpse into the origins of one of Genoa City’s most powerful families, as well as where the adventure began for us all some forty-odd years ago.
