Ellen DeGeneres is doing whatever she can to mend her image as the kindest person on television. For the last several months now, there have been many sources coming out of the woodwork claiming that they’ve had not-so-nice experiences with the daytime television host in the past. In fact, there have been some people that have gone on the record to say that Ellen might just be the biggest two-face person in the entertainment industry. Here’s what you need to know.
Because of all the accusations made against her either by her crew, people who have worked with her in the past or people who have simply were in the same room as her, Ellen decided that now would be the best time to try and make her wrongs into rights. She posted a video on her Twitter account about standing with the protesters behind the Black Live Matters movement. Unfortunately, not everyone is buying into her sincerity.

“I stand with the protestors who are exercising their rights and I want to be an ally fighting for change,” she begins. “As a white person, I don’t always know what to say. I think right now white people have to just sit in our discomfort and we have to admit there’s a lot we don’t know about black people’s lives and about a black person’s experience. There is horrible injustice towards black people that has been ignored for far too long.”
“I like to think that I’m doing my best, but I think it’s time that we have to look at ourselves and we have to say we have not done enough,” she said. “I want to learn how to be a better person, how to do better. I was the dancing lady for a little while and now I want to help educate my audience. I want to educate myself.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for her critics to comment on her video. Many social media followers wrote comments such as, “I read about this a few days ago and ranted about how these white women all say they want to educate themselves, so I won’t go into that again. I’m sick of it, and I’m sick of Ellen. I’m sure the thing she’s most concerned about is that she’ll lose her show, won’t get paid $50 million dollars per year, and her wife will leave her.” Another critic said, “Ellen, we’ve seen the curtain thrown back, the light exposed on your darkness, the skeletons have heaved and burst through the closet door. Say goodbye, stay home, and count your money.
