Kelly Ripa says that being a soap star changed her life. The television star, who is best known for her role as Hayley Vaughan on the classic daytime television series All My Children, says that being on the soap was more than just a stepping stool for her career. In fact, she said that working on the series was also one of the best times of her life. Here’s what she has to say.

In an interview with People Magazine, Kelly reflected on her daytime television career and her role as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children. She told the publication, “Well, you know, it’s so funny. Her original name was Hayley Wells and then they said, ‘The character sounds too much like Hayley Mills so we’re changing her name to Hayley Vaughan.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know who anybody is you just mentioned, so I’ll go with it.’”

Kelly also said that All My Children was her first major gig which helped kick start her career. She added, “I wasn’t like everybody else on this panel — everybody else had jobs and careers and they were professional actors. I truly moved to New York and I was working at the Toy Fair and I auditioned sort of on a whim. I was originally dropping off other people’s headshots, because [that was] my side hustle.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Kelly Ripa is now one of the most popular television personalities with a legion of fans who follow and support her every move. While there’s no doubt that fans would love to see her make a cameo on any of the current daytime television shows, Kelly hasn’t said anything just yet. Of course, that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Even soap fans know that you can always expect the unexpected!
