CBS ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers finds that Dr. Penny Escobar (Monica Ruiz) secretly wants to be a fashion designer. Okay, alright, a lot of people end up in careers that they don’t particularly want in order to pay the bills, I get it. But the excuse she gave Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) was that she needed to pay off her student loans and then Sally told her that she would get her a job in the fashion industry in order to be able to do that. awfully generous of an allegedly dying Sally… but is it really generous or is Dr. Escobar hiding something quite possibly even bigger than Sally’s illness.

Okay let’s look at this logically. If Dr. Escobar is a first year resident (and it kind of looks like she is) then I could see where she would be struggling. Especially in an economic climate like LA. People move out to LA all the time just to wind up moving back home because they cannot financially make it out there. It’s just too expensive as compared to other financial climates for people to migrate into. But those who have a great job certainly have a leg up, and Dr. Escobar, without knowing her past, seems to have the set up for at least a comfortable life in LA. Maybe not an extravagant one but definitely comfortable. But on top of her doctor career she will need a fashion designer salary to pay her student loans? Wow, if I didn’t know better I’d say you were trying to be Barbie!

CBS ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’ Spoilers: What if ‘student loans’ is actually a cover for something else?
If Dr. Escobar has racked up a ton of gambling debt then she wouldn’t be the first doctor in the B&Bverse to resort to a side job in order to make ends meet. I’m just glad she didn’t decide to dabble in human trafficking like Dr. Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) but I suppose she decided she was too pretty for jail. There is also the idea that maybe it’s not quite gambling debt that she has racked up but perhaps maybe the good doctor has a rather, shall we say, nasty habit of getting into the nose candy every now and again and owes someone some money. Might ask Vinnie Walker (Joe LoCicero) about that because he seems to be the go to guy. It could also be that she wants to stop being Vinnie’s supplier for the harder to get things on the street. Can’t be a supplier if you have no access to the supplies, right? Just a thought.

I highly doubt B&B would go here since they seem to be shying away from the whole name of Sally’s condition thing (ooh, rolling your eyes that hard hurts!) , but perhaps maybe, just maybe, she is trying to pay her way out of an immigration issue. Or if it’s not her that’s in trouble then it could be some of her family or her children (we don’t know for sure if she doesn’t have them!) that are in trouble and hey, even doctors can fall for clever enough scams.
