TLC 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 days finds that the last time we saw Rosemarie and Ed Brown of on the show, Ed was asking her to take an STD test. Now, in the US this is not looked down upon because a lot of engaged couples do this activity right before tying the knot. It’s a new era, people hook up – a lot. And we all just want to be safe. However, when Ed asked this of Rosemarie she looked at him as if he had started growing two heads.

Filipino culture is different from the United States, we get that. However, I really don’t think the entire country is devoid of STD tests. I don’t think this is the first time that someone has asked their partner to get one, especially considering they’ve only known each other 3 months. Also there’s the fact of the matter that Rosemarie has dated other people before, she has a child. And while we’re certainly not judging that because everyone deserves a chance at happiness there is also a chance that she could be carrying something from one of these encounters. She self-admitted to Ed to partying with 5 other guys on New Year’s Eve and seemed a little cagey when Ed wanted her to go into detail about it. He has the right to ask for a test, honey.

This could explain her trepidation. She may not know what happens during an STD test, she may think that it’s some sort of medieval torture type test where they strap you in and do things to you and if you fail there are dire consequences. Okay, that’s probably a little far-fetched because she seems very saavy about other things but she could have heard different things from different people about what really goes on during these things. It’s not uncommon for rumors to go around about medical procedures. As a native US person, a good friend of mine who was about to have gallbladder surgery was frightened because she thought that they removed the offending organ anally thanks to her now ex-husband. Yes, they were both US natives, I wish I was kidding.
TLC 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 days – Does she think she wouldn’t pass? Or just not get into the US?
Aside from rumors about what happened during the procedure, does she think if she didn’t pass that there could be a possibility that she could never come to the US? That could be a very real fear. The thing is, even if she came by herself and did not take an STD test specifically for Ed, STD screening is mandatory for all immigrants over 15 years of age, so it’s not just Big Ed’s idea. In fact if she took it for him instead of Uncle Sam asking her, that might just be one less hurdle she has to cross on her way to getting that greencard, I’m just saying.
TLC 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 days – Or perhaps a different reason
Perhaps, Rosemarie knows she’s going to fail this test. Perhaps she knows that due to a very recent encounter with someone who was not Big Ed she realizes that she actually has something that could be pretty contagious. And while if she were married maybe it wouldn’t matter so much because they could both get treatment together, maybe she is embarassed about it. Maybe she hasn’t been all that faithful to Big Ed, that would definitely make her reluctant to take a test. Maybe she thinks if he found out he would be furious, break it off with her, and she would be out her ticket to the US which… honestly, might very well be the case.
