The final trailer for Disney’s ‘Mulan’ is out and has everyone talking. It shows us the basic story of Mulan that we know. She takes her father’s place as a war rages and ends up being the savior of China, in simplified terms. Perhaps the biggest few things that viewers have noticed are elements from the Disney cartoon that aren’t included here. For instance Mushu. Mushu was the dragon who was tasked with waking up the Great Stone Dragon to provide protection over Mulan, however, after an incident, Mushu has to take its sted. Voiced by Eddie Murphy, the character provided most of the comedy and was delivered perfectly by Murphy.

In this film, however, it looks to stay a bit closer to the traditional ballad of Mulan. While it is traditionally believed that Mulan was in fact a real person, a lot of the fables and tales regarding her and typically believed to be fiction. This means that the talking dragon of Mushu, her hilarious grandmother, and other fun elements of the cartoon classic will be missing. The new film will be a bit darker in tone and focus more on the soldier Mulan.

The new film will star Yifei Liu as the popular Mulan herself. Martial arts legends Donnie Yen and Jet Li will have prominent roles as Commander Tung and The Emperor. Jason Scott Lee will portray the villain Bori Khan and Li Gong will play the evil witch working with him, Xian Lang. Having some of the greatest, if not the greatest living Asian actors in the world play strong for the film. Many have called the castings perfect as well, and I can’t argue with that! I grew up watching Li, Yen, and Lee so I have nothing but excitement for the film.

The men obviously won’t be the only ones kicking butt though! Mulan herself, Yifei Liu will be taking names as she runs up the side of walls and kicks spears out of the air!
