'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Mark Grossman (Adam Newman) Breaks the Silence!

‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that actor Mark Grossman who plays Adam Newman sat down with CBS soaps-in-depth and discussed why he became an actor in the first place. Apparently he deeply identified with the feelings that someone’s performance can give you. “When I went to see a movie or watched TV while growing up, something kind of hits you, and makes you feel a certain way.

I was like, ‘Man, if I could make someone feel what I just felt, that would be such a cool thing!” and I think we can all agree that he definitely has a point. Every day our favorite soap characters make us feel something, and with Adam Newman as of late, a lot of us have been feeling contempt. He’s been so manipulative of the whole Connor situation with Chelsea, and now he springs his feelings on her? While knowing that she’s with his brother? Wow.

He also says of acting that sometimes, playing a character allows us to explore our own souls in a very cathartic way. Although if one is playing a character like Adam, one could see that obviously this guy is an example of what not to do in your daily life. Still, Grossman says that the process is “An extremely personal thing for someone to go through.” and one could argue that that is true. When playing a character, as much as one tries to stay true to the written word, there is often a part of that character that intrinsically belongs to the actor themselves. Like, some of us wouldn’t dare imagine another actor in a role, or sometimes even have trouble accepting the new actor when a role is vacated and that’s because the former player has left such a mark on the character.

Fortunately, it seems that Grossman is here to stay in his role of Adam Newman. He does a good job of convincing us that he’s a conniving, manipulative schemer on the daily and we’re all the more entertained for it. We look forward to much more from the guy we love to hate at Y&R. We at DSD are personally glad Mark went into acting. Stay tuned!!!
