TLC Counting On Spoilers: The First Baby for Abbie and John David
This first pregnancy has been quite difficult for Abbie. In fact, she said, “I am currently eight weeks along and I’m feeling awful. I’ve pretty much just been lying in bed, go to the bathroom and maybe the couch…Morning sickness has hit me pretty hard.” On last Tuesday’s episode of the TLC reality show, we saw Abbie and John David trying to make the best of the pregnancy, but it all changes when he had to take her to the emergency room.
TLC Counting On Spoilers: Abbie Duggar’s First Pregnancy Woes
She has now been admitted to the hospital quite a few times because of how bad she has felt. John David is trying everything he can to be a good husband to her, but feels like he can’t do anything. “It’s definitely hard watching Abbie in pain, just wishing I could take it away, do something to help her”.
Abbie has been trying to remain as positive as she can during her terrible morning sickness. On last week’s episode, she said, “At this point, I have to remind myself why I’m so sick. It honestly hasn’t been very enjoyable. I just keep saying, ‘There’s a baby coming! There’s a baby coming!’ This has a good ending”. The show has been following her struggles with morning sickness and her disorder. She was diagnosed in October with hyperemesis gravidarum. What is hyperemesis gravidarum? It is basically morning sickness with a lot more side effects. Vomiting can occur frequently, weight loss, and dehydration. These are serious side effects that generally will occur early on in a pregnancy, much like Abbie’s. During much of her pregnancy so far, Abbie has been in and out of the hospital and on IV’s at home. This seems like a very intense and scary time for both her and John David.
We really hope that Abbie’s pregnancy gets better as she progresses. This is supposed to be a very happy time for her and John David, but with this type of morning sickness, it just seems to be more emotional and stressful for them. You can keep up with the Duggars on TLC on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
