‘The Young and Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that star Melissa Ordway says that her character Abby Newman has definitely gone through a lot of changes these past few years. Not only is she her own independent woman, but she’s also a new and improved version of her former self. Melissa opened up about Abby in the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest. Here’s what she has to say.
When asked what is her take on the dynamic of Abby working with Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Melissa admitted that it’s a lot of fun. She also said that it’s pretty much Abby and Chelsea versus Phyllis, which has certainly brought on a lot of drama.

The actress explains, “Everybody gives Phyllis such a hard time, which is just hilarious. And I love how she gives it right back to everyone. Now Abby’s a little bit upset at Chelsea for the whole hostage situation. And then you throw Chloe in there and it’s really fun. It’s like all of these strong powerful women together.”

Chelsea further added, “There is a respect and a level of friendship that they have together even if they get on each other’s nerves. I really love the way that they’ve written these relationships. They are so much fun to play.” With that said, Abby also says that she loves seeing her character Abby Newman acting like her own boss. Melissa said, “I love this version of Abby. I think she’s finally found her groove. I mean, her mom is Ashley Abbott and her dad is Victor Newman. She comes from two of the most powerful and smartest business people in Genoa City. I feel like this is who Abby is and who she is meant to be, in my opinion. I just don’t think Ashley would raise a daughter who wouldn’t be taking charge.”
