It was a star-studded event at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening as Queen Elizabeth, along with Prince Charles and Camilla welcomed world leaders for a banquet to celebrate the start of the 70th anniversary of NATO.
The Queen was seen shaking hands with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. She was also pictured smiling and talking with American president Donald Trump and his wife, Melania.
Trump’s visit to the United Kingdom hasn’t attracted as many protests as his previous visits, but he has always spoke glowingly of the excitement that he has to meet the royals.
Royal News: Instagram Update
Following the event, fans of the royals were sent into meltdown with a post made on the social media platform along with a host of pictures from the event.
The post from The Royal Family’s official Instagram account said: “Tonight, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by The Queen to mark 70 years of the NATO Alliance.
“Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses welcomed the Heads of State and Government of NATO countries, and their spouses or partners, into the Music Room.
“An official photograph of The Queen, The Prince of Wales, NATO Secretary-General and Heads of State and Government from countries who form the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was taken.”
Along with an official photograph with the Queen and Prince Charles along with all world leaders, there was a separate post featuring the Queen and Trump and the Queen speaking with German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Royal News: Queen Looked Relaxed
The Queen meets significant figures on a daily basis, so it didn’t come as much surprise that she looked relaxed under pressure. She also cut a picture of exceptional health despite a recent hoax that sent social media into meltdown, claiming that she had passed away.
Any potential rumour was quickly rubbished by Buckingham Palace, but the pictures would back up the belief that she is still as strong as ever despite being 93-years-old.
In the picture with all world leaders, a smiling Boris Johnson could be seen sitting next to her majesty. Johnson faces a British election just next week and looked very calm in the face of that.
Before the banquet, Prince Charles hosted afternoon tea and welcomed President Trump and the First Lady to Clarence House. He had previously met Trudeau earlier in the day, as well as the Prime Minister from Norway Erna Solberg and Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
