EastEnders Spoilers finds that it has been an emotional 2019 on the square, and that only appears to intensify next year as it has been teased that there will be a big break up to kick off the new year. One of the soaps most beloved couples are set to hit the rocks, as Linda Carter’s (Kellin Bright) downfall becomes too much to take for her husband Mick (Danny Dyer).
Linda has been under massive stress throughout 2019, and that has led to her drinking more and more. Her excessive drinking has found her getting into more trouble, and she has even lost her license over recent months after being found drink driving.

Her dependency on alcohol is likely to be the biggest factor in their downfall, with her problem only getting worse during the festive season. Mick will have to watch on helplessly as her addiction to alcohol to get over the issues in her life only grows with every passing day. He has been able to persuade her to stop drinking, and the break-up is likely to be his last resort.
The reason for her excessive drinking hinges on her worries for Ollie. However, this seemed to have just been the tip of the iceberg, as she has endured many other stresses in her life, and the alcohol, if anything, is making her stress grow. She has had to deal with Mick going to prison, along with other troubles involving Ollie and Dean.

It has been a hard six years for Linda since she made her first appearance on the soap, but it seemed that her relationship with Mick would ensure that she could get through everything. However, it was teased by the soap’s bosses that maybe this would be a bridge too far, and their relationship isn’t as strong as it once was.
The relationship with her husband is suffering because of her alcohol problem, and she isn’t the first landlady at the Queen Vic to fall victim to hitting the bottle. Angie Watts (Anita Dobson) also faced struggles with alcohol throughout her life. However, her reason for hitting the bottle was down to the fact that she couldn’t have a baby. Linda’s problems are much long-winded than that, and we will have to wait and see how this plays out for her and Mick in the new year.
